BIOGRAPHY
At the birth of his son Tanis in 1994, Mr. Thomas began writing and illustrating for kids. He self- published his first book entitled, A Manatee Christmas that year and opened his business Thomas Expressions Publishing Company. After eight years teaching Commercial Art at the local area Vocational-Technical School in Panama City, Florida, he left to become the Art Director of an Engineering firm at Tyndall AFB working in 3D Animations, Interactive Training, Kiosk Development and Display Designs. Six years later, he left to follow his true passion of writing and illustrating children's books. In 2001, Mr. Thomas released Buddy Manatee, a full-color environmentally correct children's book that became an instant success. In 2007, he re-released his first book, A Manatee Christmas, but this time as a hardback, full-color publication. - SEE BOOKS - The Save the Manatee Club has been one of his biggest distributors of the book. During this time, various authors approached Mr. Thomas as a consultant to assist them in self-publishing their stories and/or to illustrate their books. Mr. Thomas also enjoys visiting schools and book fairs. He has begun giving his BE AWARE and CARE Fun Facts and Trivia Presentation. Mr. Thomas is a military veteran; having served in the United States Navy. His business and life partners are his wife Terri and son Tanis. They share his studio in Panama City, Florida - USA.

STATEMENT
My artistic vision is to create and publish children's books, particularly beginning reader stories, that contain animal humor, fun facts and trivia. My emphasis is on two areas more than any others. For the first, I am compelled to capture the natural environment as seen through the eyes of a child. I am partial to promote my home state of Florida and its coasts through my illustrations in the books I publish, but am fascinated and concerned with all wildlife, their habits and our environment. For the second area, I am committed to educate, make aware and instill a sense of caring to young readers of our animal friends and their homes. I strive to provide an enthusiastic, imaginative, and intellectually stimulating message to help young readers develop a lifelong appreciation, understanding, and stewardship for wildlife and our environment. It is in this second area that I yearn to turn my imagination loose for an unbridled journey.
